The Texan is a total of 7,204 sq. ft. Usable space is 6,194 sq. ft.
WHAT TYPE OF ENTERTAINMENT DOES THE TEXAN OFFER?
The Texan offers musical acts from a variety of genres of music as well as a variety of additional programming, depending on the demand for the type of event, availability, ticket sales, etc. Other programming might include open mic nights, cabaret performances, opry nights, polka nights, speakers, etc.

The Texan was a well-loved movie theater for many years in downtown Athens!
WHEN WAS THE TEXAN BUILT?
The early 1900s, but opened as a movie theater in 1948.
WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE TEXAN?
The Texan’s hours of operation depend on the type of event being held. However, hours are likely to be consistent on the weekends and evenings, most likely Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
CAN THE VENUE BE RENTED OUT FOR PRIVATE EVENTS?
Yes! The Texan is available for rent for a variety of different types of events including, but not limited to, weddings/wedding receptions, galas, dances, fundraisers, dinners, parties, high school reunions, quinceaneras and more. If you are interested in booking The Texan, please Request a Quote.
WHAT TYPE OF EVENTS WILL THE TEXAN OFFER?
The Texan will offer many different types of events throughout the year. Potential programming includes concerts, art shows, community events, movie nights, open mic nights, etc.

The Texan will offer a variety of different genres of music including but not limited to, country, Texas country, folk, Americana, bluegrass, alternative, rock, indie, Latino, Tejano, and more!
IS THE TEXAN AN ALL AGES VENUE?
Yes. The Texan is a venue for all ages and all citizens. There may be certain shows where The Texan would request that children under the age of 17 are accompanied by a parent or guardian, however that will depend on the type of event that it is and the artist’s requirements.
DOES THE TEXAN SERVE FOOD?
Yes, though The Texan does not have a full-service kitchen, depending on the event, the City will strive to have a food component at each of our events. We will work with caterers who have their current catering licenses. For private events, food can be host provided.
HOW MUCH DO TICKETS FOR CONCERTS/EVENTS COST?
Ticket prices for live music and events vary depending on the type of show or event.
WHERE DO I PARK WHEN I COME TO AN EVENT?
There is available parking directly behind The Texan in the City owned parking lot. There is also parking around the downtown area and square available that includes a short walk to the venue.
IS THE TEXAN HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE?
Yes. The Texan is ADA compliant.

ARE THE TEXAN’S RESTROOMS AVAILABLE FOR OTHER DOWNTOWN EVENTS?
Yes! The restrooms/lobby area of The Texan were designed with exactly that in mind. Not only are The Texan’s restrooms to be utilized for concerts and events at The Texan, but there is an option to utilize the lobby and restrooms for downtown events of all kinds.
